01
Questions an assessment may investigate
A child assessment can explore learning strengths and difficulties, cognitive and academic skills, school readiness, attention, development, and possible specific learning disorders such as dyslexia or dyscalculia. The assessment question and suitable approach are agreed with the clinic first.
02
What the process may include
Depending on the question, the process may include parent or carer interviews, age-appropriate standardised activities, educational assessment, review of school work and previous reports, and consultation with teachers or other professionals with consent.
03
What families receive
Families receive an explanation of the findings and may receive a written report describing the child’s learning profile and practical recommendations. Where school-readiness support is the focus, recommendations are tailored to the child’s transition and learning needs.
